ARTICLE BY DR. GOPALAKRISHNAN NEW CHAIRMAN OF TATA GROUP.

ARTICLE BY DR. GOPALAKRISHNAN NEW CHAIRMAN OF TATA GROUP.

Dr. Gopalakrishnan succeeds Mr. Ratan Tata as Chairman of Tata Sons Ltd.,
the holding company for many of the Tata Bluechips like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Voltas, etc. Possibly, he is the first
non-Tata person to head the Tata Empire. The article below has been written
by him and I want to share it with you all.

Quote:
The grass isn't always greener
on the other side!! Move from one job to another, but only for the right
reasons.
"It's
yet another day at office. As I logged on to the marketing and advertising
sites for the latest updates, as usual, I found the headlines dominated
by 'who's moving from one company to another after a short stint, and I
wondered, why are so many people leaving one job for another?
Is it passé now to work with just one company for a sufficiently long period?
Whenever I ask this question to people who leave a company, the answers I get are: "Oh, I am
getting a 200% hike in salary"; "Well, I am jumping three
levels in my designation"; "Well, they are going to send
me abroad in six months".
Then, I look around at all the people who are considered successful today and who have reached the
top - be it in a media agency, an advertising agency or a company. I find
that most of these people are the ones who have stuck to the company, ground
their heels and worked their way to the top. And, as I look around for
people who changed their jobs constantly, I find they have stagnated at
some level, in obscurity!
In this absolutely ruthless, dynamic and competitive environment, there are still no short cuts to success
or to making money.
The only thing that continues to pay, as earlier, is loyalty and hard work.
Yes, it pays! Sometimes immediately, sometimes after a lot of time. But,
it does pay.
Does this mean that one should stick to an organization and wait for that golden moment? Of course not.
After a long stint, there always comes a time for moving in most organizations,
but it is important to move for the right reasons, rather than superficial
ones, like money, designation or an overseas trip.
Remember,
no company recruits for charity. More often than not, when you are offered
an unseemly hike in salary or designation that is disproportionate to what
that company offers it current employees, there is always unseen bait attached.
The result? You will, in the long-term, have reached exactly the same levels
or maybe lower levels than what you would have in your current company.
A lot of people leave an organization because they are "unhappy".
What is this so-called-unhappiness? I have been working for donkey's years
and there has never been a day when I am not unhappy about something in
my work environment-boss, rude colleague, fussy clients etc.
Unhappiness in a workplace, to a large extent, is transient.
If you look hard enough, there is always something to be unhappy about. But,
more importantly; do I come to work to be "happy" in the truest
sense? If I think hard, the answer is "No".
Happiness is something you find with family, friends, may be a close circle of colleagues
who have become friends.
What you come to work for is to earn, build a reputation, satisfy your ambitions,
be appreciated for your work ethics, face challenges and get the job done.
So, the next time you are tempted to move, ask yourself why are you moving
and what are you moving into?
Some questions are:
* Am I ready and capable of handling the new responsibility? If yes , what could be the possible reasons
my current company has not offered me the same responsibility?

* Who are the people who currently handle this responsibility in the current and new company? Am I as good
as the best among them?

* As the new job offer has a different profile, why have I not given the current company the option
to offer me this profile?

* Why is the new company offering me the job? Do they want me for my skills, or is there an ulterior motive?

An honest answer to these will eventually decide where you go in your career - to the top of the
pile in the long term (at the cost of short- term blips) or to become another
average employee who gets lost with time in the wilderness?

Spirituality for Our Salvation & to Save Earth for Future

Hari! Om!

Its been wonderful to catch-up with old mates, old associates, old friends etc. through Facebook, when the association is almost @ at verge of going into the oblivion.

Frankly, that’s the blessing in disguise biased to us Humans, by the Almighty, the attribute of fading & recurring memory. In a way we are all “Gajinis”. As otherwise we would keep lingering in our pasts and not enter the present. No way to think of future. The gift given is for us to let alone the negative aspects but not the rest.

Anyway, now Facebook has taken the role to get us back to the old for the remembrance of the past and also develop new associates to update ourselves with the latest. Friends! But watch out for the Negatives in it. Keep it out of the Children, below 20 years, in my opinion. Many of you may opine, it should be even less  or much more, influenced by your own mind sets or prejudices. I am aware, the population of aged 20 and less are much more than the rest on the Facebook.

Well! Actually, I have been in interaction with a Group, creating Community Oneness awareness. I felt certain aspects relevant to all in common, should be shared with, now that I have many friends, out of the particular group. Of course, its quite possible that what I want to share may not be new to many of us. But definitely, it gives me an opportunity to open out for more interaction or revive my concerns.

Human Relations, is one that is of paramount importance to us, especially in the ever densely populating world. Its an age old focal aspect of Spirituality, that  is long lost in time. However, thanks to a few truly aware, that in this timeless time of people, caught-up with so called modern aspects, we can still catch-up with our will, to raise ourselves up to the level of human status and maintain Human Relations, without fear of Royalty, for use as patent. Thank Heavens! Human Relations is universal, beyond diverse of the diverse of the NOW unrestricted Universe and not a geographical acclaim for patents to exchange hands for a song.

Its’ an observation, that the last decade of the 3rd millennium has somehow been a period where we all don’t have time  for anything. I wonder, then what do we have time for. There are so many aspects in our lives that we need to give a balanced importance or preference for a peaceful, contented & satisfied co-existence. However, we all have no clue as to why we have ACTULLY come into this world. With this negative back lift we are aimlessly adding worldly attachments of riches, pride, prestige, power, movables, immovables’ and what not, putting also the Mother Nature to stake. We are only achieving Kyoto, Copenhagen, Cancun and so on, only increasing the counts of the number of summits etc etc probably to compete with exponential  population of the  concrete world.

Obviously, we are ending up dissatisfied, un-contented & tormented. I suggest we all should turn back spiritual in our lives, regard all aspects of our lives, give equal time to everything without attachments & possessions, regard value for Environment and make our lives more objective.  And then, let us see, who can say that we cannot be happy, peaceful, contented or satisfied to the core.

We are circled around by unspiritual practices as terrorism, perennial border  disputes & conflicts, recessions, joblessness, Poverty, man-made natural calamities, planet concreting, carbon “monoxing”, states bifurcations, extinction of the flora & fauna, Problems with & without water in devastating floods & draught, A single highest importer of Gold in the world only for ornaments etc. Publicity of analysis & statistics of corruptions & scams in and around and socio-cultural-technological invasions well across the Globe, discriminations  based on so called well developed, developed, third world and underdeveloped countries are all not very spiritual.

When we talk of spirituality, the common perception of the so called educated young among us, is: A pass time and a Companion of the Senior Citizens in the confines of their retired or old age homes OR an apprenticeship to the same on how to lead life, mould themselves, or to preach what was not practiced.

Another perception, especially of the lot in pursuit of material needs and pleasures, is the physical renunciation of all material world & to settle down at Himalayas or other Mountain Forests   in ochre robes. Its all a misnomer. In actual the pass time perception is an absurdity, as what one can achieve by learning to lead or mould life in old age. Of course, it could definitely be a good companion in the loneliness of age.

On the ochre robes and renunciation, “to prove whom, the showbiz?” is my question. And nothing one can renounce, physically, WE WOULD NOT and MENTALLY WE CANNOT. Even our body, at the final summon. That’s the reason we get messages to be spiritual and ever ready to take the call and leave contented, to not come back.

Standing at the median on the busiest streets of New York, or in the midst of crowded youth in a pub or a disco club with music going at 4000w, too one can still be spiritual. These are very gross examples to drive home the point, so Friends! Please don’t get carried away with them or take them literally. Therefore, we all definitely need to get back to spirituality.

Conventions, rule books, laws of our times are primarily an external disciplining instruments or guides and are not by themselves anything of value, without the spirituality. The eternal spiritual values are referred everywhere. The rules are time relative and therefore are not very relevant and are superfluous, if attempted to relate. They divert our focus from the higher into only material pursuits. They siphon out the very basic attribute of internal and self-discipline, to reach our higher ideal. The Ultimate yardstick is our conscious, which will be always with us, watching us, as a silent spectator and only suggests pointers at crucial juncture.

The advantage of the conventions, rule books etc is it brings in challenges for us to confront but with the back-up strength of the Spirituality. Without this advantage, the inherent talents or zeal are not manifested in complete to exhaust the urge or desires in our life pursuits. Friends! We therefore need to handle this very carefully with an act of objectivity and not get too involved in it. The eternal spiritual values give us this.

Spirituality is a philosophy and involves deep study or insight, that is very well possible for any level(IQ) of Human Being to inculcate or develop, as only Humans have the spiritual orientation, predominantly. Any true, learned philosopher on any subject, name it, Science, Humanities, Religion, whatsoever, can vouch for this.

I don’t know how many of us have gone into deep study or are a philosopher. Definitely, I am still not one and have also not studied any subject to its true depths. But  I am in constant and sincere pursuit of one and have clearly understood that the more deep we try to get into, the more is the depth, it’s like the Black Hole.

One may ask then why at all we should study, prima fascia. Well, as Human Beings we have right on choice of action, unlike other animals. Alas! On spiritual pursuits we do not have the choice, we have to pursue to go higher for eternal peace & bliss. In fact by default, we do pursue, unawares. ITS ONLY THAT THIS PURSUIT SHOULD BE WITH A TOTAL AWARENESS, THAT’S THE CATCH HERE.

From the time we are born in this world or even before, we are already in an involuntary pursuit. As we grow to maturity we refine in our thoughts with our 3 instruments but coming in contact with the conditioned world, get entangled into it and forget, like “Gajini”, the spiritual pursuit, thus, invariably, tend not to apply the refinement.

A baby in the Mother’s womb or a new born baby, are in my opinion or observation highly objective and spiritual. An old man or lady minus his  or her attachments of the world (people, so called belongings etc.) are also spiritual. Again just examples.

The attachments with the world are the cause( anything for that matter) and the agitations or disturbances are the effect, is one such pointer to wake us up in the path of spirituality. Caution!! Yet, spirituality  is the most vulnerable of all Human pursuits.

Religion is often construed for spirituality. Religion, from my observation is the highest path  in spiritual pursuit. The top flight of stairs or the rung of the ladder is of Religion. On reading this immediately, we would want to choose religion, as we are always in a hurry, want the short cut to reach the goal, without putting any effort, typical human psychology starts manifesting. WATCH OUT again, Religion is the tedious path on the spiritual pursuit, from my observation. Apparently, this seems negative but the positive secret here is, the spirit in us is eager to join back. So no worry, that is human nature. Let us keep the eagerness as a pointer and follow our pursuit through our individual nature, ie. Swadharma. Only after all the refinements through other spiritual paths, that the path of religion comes, it is a total surrender without any inhibitions, conditions, whatsoever. It is a testing path.A failure here, means, start all over again. There are also other views that, we can start-off from where we failed.

We all must have heard of a very few Gifted Souls, who were spiritual enlightened through the path of the religion. Try and understand what is our path from the experiences in our life, be objective & alert, have judicious control over the emotions, be de-attached, of charitable disposition, open mindedness, be contemplative (not physically, but mentally, anywhere in doubt). Some tips that I could think of.

Readers, thanks for giving a patient reading. I look forward for open comments, suggestion, advice, criticism to improve or refine upon my posts.

The language of this piece is a little uncommon but humble and yet aggressive attempt to wake-up with a jolt the readership and thus the mankind to focus on higher and nobler thoughts & deeds.

Awareness Response among PDs

Hari! Om!

Dear PDs'

Very happy to hear of the overwhelming response to the wake-up call for PDs to get together. I have observed mixed response of enthusiasm, frustration, indifference, wisdom etc etc, apparently  due to individual and group experiences.I am sure anyone or everyone would agree that one should have a clarity of thought, goal, the path and the action. This unique process chain applies to every aspect of life and thus applies here as well. This is nothing new and definitely we are well aware and many of us may even be capable of debating, lecturing or even researching on this subject.

The catch is the emotion, the character of the mind, takes control of  the intellect and with its various attachments  turns the intellect into an invalid (incapable to analyze, rationalize, contemplate or decide)and there comes the litmus test. Even the most enlightened of the souls are susceptible to this. This is not to discourage but is only to caution in our path to reach our goal.

I pray to all the PD Community including me as I am keying in this piece, to have this jotted down in their minds clearly prior to getting into the process. Further any sort of attachment to any part of the process is detrimental. The thought of not having attachment can by itself turn into an attachment. Thus we need to be very careful.

With the above introduction, when we talk of forming friends, groups, associations, which is our mutual interest. Firstly, we need to question ourselves including myself, is forming all these and generating a member strength our goal or do we have an ultimate goal or a long vision? When we have the answer to this we automatically proceed further, that is the power of the mind / intellect. If we dont get an answer for ourselves, means we are puzzled and are circling in a whirl pool. This happens when we are driven by the emotions of our mind to act.

Next, we need to be very clear of the ground realities and superimpose our goal with the reality and look for the vision, then plan the action and proceed in the chosen path without any attachments at the start or en-route. Its like the jobs of an Architect and a Civil Engineer or Builders.

I would like to make it clear that, I am not averse to forming or maintaining these associations. In fact I am mighty encouraged and inspired to hear so many people aware of the need of true associations and initiating actions. If, we attach ourselves to anything, that's it we are gone. But one thing, Wonder of Wonders!! no words to express, we all life forms have such a mental mechanism together with a synchronizing biological one that we always keep getting cautions, knocks & shocks in our lives to alert us.

Therefore, let us clearly understand every thought, plan & action in relevance to the goals and monitor the progress. Then we know where we are, which itself will caution us. Its like the cellphone service provider messaging us when entering new area.

I personally, am aiming at a very highly exhaustive association between all of us and look forward to  put in immense effort in the direction for our PD Community.

I have the info on the AGBM and of the assoication at Nellore.Congrats to all the members including the office bearers for the decesion on the AGBM. I wish all concerned a grand success of the Event.

I am not a member as such. However, evince a keen interest to be a part and provide active participation and contribution as I too ...have similar community feeling for PDs', being a PD myself. I leave it to the honourable members and the AGB OB / EC to offer their views / preferences on this and inform accordingly.

For the present, from outside the Assoication, I have some suggestions.

* A presentation of the PD website etc could be tabled for the awareness of all
* An assoication / meeting online could be devised for more attendance & thus
active participation
* A mutual co-operation between the Association & PD website, something of a
"hand in glove" could be thought of , understanding the power of the
communication potential that the website holds and the Noble Cause the
Assoication is into
* An agenda could be drafted & distributed among the members prior to AGBM
and discussed at the AGBM
* Proceedings, conclusions & results of the AGBM and or Photo / Video shots of
the AGBM could be uploaed on the PD website or anywhere on the Internet
* A regular informal progress meeting could also be organized for detailing and
smooth procedence of the future AGBMs

THOUGH I AM NOT A MEMBER, FOR THE PRESENT I AM AVAILABLE FOR ALL THE SUPPORT FROM OUTSIDE AS PER DIRECTIVE OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBERS / EC FOR ANY & ALL OF THE SUGGESTIONS OR FOR ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD FOR THE TRUE CAUSE OF & IN THE INTEREST OF THE PD COMMUNITY.

PLEASE FEEL FREE AND DO NOT HESITATE TO REVERT FOR ANYTHING IN THIS REGARD.

I APPEAL TO THE PD COMMUNITY AS SUCH & THE ASSOICATION MEMEBERS TO EXTEND THE BEST OF THE SUPPORT FOR ALL THE SUCCESS OF THE EVENT, IN WHATEVER WAY THAT IS BEST POSSIBLE.

AS SUCH FOR A HUMAB BEING THERE IS NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE, WHAT WITH GLOBAL WARMING OR REPLICATING THE BIG BANG THEORY GOING TO MOON, MARS OR FINDING OXYGEN ON SATURN ETC ...ETC.
